Welcome to Department of Neurophysiology, NIMHANS
Welcome to the Neurophysiology website. The website guides you to get a glimpse of academic and research
activities of the department of Neurophysiology, NIMHANS. The Department of Neurophysiology is the first of
its kind in India, established thirty and odd years back to carry out Neuroscience research!
Students training programs are meant to establish a strong base and expertise in the area of neuroscience.
Besides the excellent academic programs, students are exposed to learning opportunities viz; visiting scientist lecture series/ workshops / seminars / conferences etc. We are proud to see our alumni excelling in their field in leading research labs across the world.
The main thrust of our research programs includes: understanding the brain and behaviour relationship from cell culture studies to experimental paradigms exploring facets of human consciousness, understanding pathophysiology associated with CNS insults and exploring the brain dynamics through neural plasticity studies etc.
As you go through the pages, you will be convinced of our conviction in this regard!
Please feel free to get in touch with us to discuss any related research interests. Thank You.
Best wishes,
Dr. B.S. Shankaranarayana Rao
