Dr. Sabitha K Rajesh
My area of interest is in therapeutics for central nervous system diseases and disorders. Primarily, to investigate the mechanisms and neurobiological outcomes of neurosteroids and phytoestrogens as a strategy to discover fundamental cellular mechanisms of neural defence and neural plasticity. My focus is on understanding the mechanisms involved in brain plasticity and modulation of ischemic stroke injury by Genestein and Constraint induced movement therapy. I have expertise in Microdialysis technique, to quantify the various neurotransmitters released during stroke. Simultaneously, I am also working on Microelectrode Array (MEA) using primary neuronal culture to measures the local field potentials and action potentials of electrically active cells and thus the activity of the underlying ion channels and synapses.
